Birthing your dreams
by Dawna DeSilva
From conception to delivery there are many unknowns and obstacles for us to overcome. Everyone has the ability to carry a dream. And yet, some of our dreams seem to drift away. Miscarry, so to speak. We dare not let regret and fear keep us from dreaming again. Hope is the atmosphere for life. Anything that tries to steal your hope is a direct attack against your ability to bring your dreams and passions to full term.
We must turn our affections on the one who placed the dreams in us and who breathes into us the hope of victory. Even in the complications of life, God is with us and walks us through all the adjustments that need to be made to further this new life. Just as a baby being delivered is messy and requires professional participation, sometimes we need help with the “messes” of our life. Family, friends, and professionals can come along side us to help bring forth our dreams. Once birthed, we need to gently care for each and every one and season our steps with grace – granting quickly forgiveness to others and to ourselves.
The unknown does not have to be scary. We don’t need to fear an evil presence lurking behind every tree to trip us up. There can be an excitement and anticipation of watching God unfold His plans for us and a walking with Him in power and peace.
What dreams has God placed in you? What burns inside of you that seems way too impossible to ever be real? God is not a cruel god and what He places in us is not just for our good but for others as well. As we surrender to His will, all things become possible and our dreams are brought to life. Father God is waiting to “catch” our dreams as we push through pain with the Holy Spirit coaching us and Jesus holding our hand and rooting us on.
